The Saturday after Hayes' birthday party it was time for him to be a "big boy" and give up the pacifier. We did the same thing with Price at 2 and it was a pretty easy process. Not as much with baby brother...Hayes was more attached than Price so it took a few days for him to realize it wasn't coming back. He cried the first night for about 45 minutes. He never asked for the paci, just wanted Momma and Daddy to rock him (which we both tried to no avail). He finally calmed down and went to sleep. The next day at his name he cried (and screamed) for about 1.5 hours. That was fun for the whole house! After that there wasn't a problem anymore. I think he just needed time to realize it was gone. He goes to sleep fine now and only asks for it when he's being silly. He still sleeps with his beloved puppy and Woody has joined him in bed too so he's doing all right! As hard as it is as a parent to take something away from your child that he loves, we knew it was time and we did the right thing for him. We knew it would cause all kinds of problems if we did it any closer to Brighton's arrival. He's such a big boy and I can't believe our house is pacifier free for the next few months.

He is such a big boy. I know you are glad that is one more hurdle that is out of the way. Like you said, it is not fun to take things like that away from them, but it is for their own good. You and Lee are great parents.
