On September 1st we decided to give up the pacifier for good. Price has had it only at night time and naps since November. I felt like a mean mom but I wanted him to be done with it before Hayes is born. It is hard to explain how deep this kids love went for his paci. He would spend like 30 minutes at a time in the middle of the day in his bed just so he could be with it. I was really nervous about taking it away. The first night we went cold turkey and he did really well. He cried for it at first but settled down and went to sleep. He asked for it when he woke up but was still okay when he didn't get it. Nap time that day was a little more rough. While I was trying to figure out how to make the transition easier, my cousin emailed me with a solution. Take the pacifier with us to Build A Bear and let Price put it in a bear. Then he can carry around his "paci" bear. We did just that and it worked like a charm. He loves his bear (that he named Pete) and sleeps with it at night and naps. He tells everyone "paci in dere". He doesn't ask for the pacifier at bed anymore and overall this transition has been much easier than I thought it would be! Here are some pictures from our Build A Bear trip.

That is SUCH a cute idea! Way to go, Price, for being such a big boy and giving up the paci! We're about to start that road with Elias, too...
Love that idea...now how can we use it to get Karlie to stop sucking her thumb??
I wish I could stick my kids' thumbs in a bear! :)
that was a cute idea!
that is exactly why i wanted kinley to have a paci so she wouldnt suck her thumb--cant get rid of a thumb LOL. although a couple kiddos i know tried a paci and wanted the thumb instead! hehe!
Good idea! We might have to try that :) Thanks!

Such a good idea! Lane is deeply attached to his as well, so that ought to be real fun!! Thanks for the idea!!!
Love the idea, I told Tim we will have to remember that when we are ready to break Hunter of the paci! He is already quite attached to his paci.
I love that idea...it's brilliant! Glad the transition has been going well.
