What's in a Name

I saw this on some other blogs lately and thought I would do it too. I wanted to write down why our kids are named what they are. So here you have it:

Price Edward Cleveland

I'll start out by saying that both boys have 2 middle names because Lee has 2 middle names. It's just something fun that the 3 of them share. Anyway, when we were naming Price we wanted a name that was a little different but not totally out there. I didn't want him to be the 3rd kid in his class with the same name. Price was my maternal grandfathers name. He was the kind of man that everyone likes and wants to be around. He was funny, successful, kind and caring. Since his name was somewhat unique and he was such an incredible grandfather, we knew this was the name. Edward was Lee's paternal grandfathers name, it is also the middle name of his maternal grandfather. It is also one of Lee's middle names so this was a no-brainer. Cleveland was the middle name of my paternal grandfather. His first name was Floyd but we thought Floyd Boyd would have been a bit much! So pretty much Price is a combination of all of our grandfathers. They helped shape who we are so we were so happy to pass them on!

Hayes Michael Louis

We actually already had Hayes' name before we knew he was a boy. With the first born if we didn't use Price we would have used Hayes. I first read this name in a book written by Anderson Cooper, the CNN anchor, it's his middle name. I like Anderson but the name has nothing to do with him. We liked it because it was different and again, there probably wouldn't be another one in his class. Michael is Lee's other middle name so we knew we wanted to use that. Louis is a variation of Louise and that is my middle name (as well as my moms and grandmas). I don't know if I'll ever have a daughter to pass this on to so I wanted to use it with Hayes. So there you have it, that is why each kid has the name they do!

They both have terrific names. I think it is special how you and Lee did name them. Love those boys so much.
