South Padre Trip

Oh my, where has the time gone?  Weeks just keep going by and I have no time to blog!  Summer is keeping us going and there isn't a day when all of the kids are gone at the same time (which is when I usually blog).  So things may be a little shaky for the rest of the summer but I'm going to try to get caught up.

Okay, back in June we went to South Padre Island for a week at the beach.  The first part of the trip my parents were with us.  They went home and Lee's parents came for the 2nd half of our stay.  It was a great vacation and the kids LOVED the beach.  We had so much fun.  We left at 2am the first night and drove through the night.  The boys did great and slept much of the way.  Brighton would alter between sleeping and screaming so that wasn't so great.  But we finally got there, did a little grocery shopping and played at the beach.  The kids were in heaven and Brighton and Hayes passed out mid afternoon for long naps.  The rest of the trip was more of the same.  We had a hot tub in the back yard of the house we stayed in so the boys looked forward to swimming in that when they got home from the beach.  Our house was just a couple of minute walk to the beach.  It was great except for the marble staircase...I was terrified all week that someone was going to slip down the stairs.  Thankfully it never happened.  The boys had their own room with bunk beds, Lee and I shared a room with Brighton and the grandparents had their own room.  It really was a great house for us all.  Throughout the week we ate at several fun restaurants, went to the sea turtle rescue center twice, found some really cool sand dunes, and made about a hundred trips to the beach.  The boys' favorite part of the day was after dark when we went back out to crab hunt.  They would scoop them up with their hands and drop them in a bucket.  Then we would take them back to the house to look at in a sink before Lee and I walked them back to the beach and set them free.  It was a little boys paradise.  We didn't leave in the middle of the night for the trip home and it was a LONG day.  We were all glad to be home but missed the beach too!  Here are some pictures from when my parents were with us.  I'll post the ones of Lee's family in the next post.
