Incredible sadness

I am deeply saddened today by all the scenes on the news from hurricane Katrina. This has been such an amazing natural disaster. Being next-door to the state that is underwater is scary stuff. It is not very often that the huge disaster of the world happens this close to home. There are people being brought from New Orleans to stay at churches here in Waco. They are tired, hungry and just ready to find their loved ones. Waco has pulled together to provide beds, clothes, blankets and meals. I think it is awesome how people have come together. All over the world, people are giving their time, money and resources to help out those in need. Disasters are truly saddening but the hope and oneness that often follows is incredible. I am amazed at the amount of looting that is going on. These people seem to have forgotten the fact that they were lucky enough to survive one of the most powerful storms to ever hit America. All they can do to thank God is take things that are not theirs. I know some people are just surviving. Those who are stealing food and diapers have people that are truly in need. Its those, however, that are walking in chest deep water with six boxes of Nike's that disgust me. They are simply taking a huge problem and making it worse. There are people in agony and they are just happy they got a new pair of kicks. Ridiculous. Anyway, my heart, thoughts and prayers go out to those in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. May God hear their prayers and rescue those who still need it.
