Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Lee and I went back to Colorado last week. This time it was all for play and no work. Lee's childhood friend Blake Rodman and his wife Nadia asked us to come up to their family cabin. We had a great time. The cabin is located in Gunnison, Colorado. It's on 250 acres in the middle of the mountains. There is even a beautiful stream that runs through the property. Blakes great-grandfather bought the property and built the house back in the 70's. The house has not been updated since it was built. This means there is burnt orange shag carpet throughout the entire house. The wall paper is not only silver metallic, but actually velvet in some places. It was hilarious. It was like stepping back 30 years. We did a lot of hiking. The first day we did a 3 mile hike called Three Lakes. It was a good workout and it was the most beautiful scenery I've seen in a long time. The next did an easy hike to a really pretty river. And the last day we were there we decided to hike to the very top of Mount Crested Butte. We rode the ski lift up about 3/4 of the way there and hiked the rest. I've never ridden a ski lift in the summer. In the winter when you look down you think the nice fluffy snow will certainly cushion you, should you fall off. In the summer you just see lots of sticks and jagged rocks. I kept thinking oh I will certainly die if something goes wrong! But we made it to the top and started hiking. It was a really hard hike. The air is so thin up there and we had to stop every couple of minutes to rest and drink water. On one of our stops a little chipmunk came up to lee and just stared at him. Lee up some of his granola bar in his hand and the chipmunk actually ate out of his hand! Talk about being one with nature. It was fantastic. Anyway, we finally made it to the very top of the mountain. We took some great pictures and started our hike down. When we got to a dirt part of the mountain, my feet slid out from under me and I totally ate it. I got back up but my hands were bleeding and my neck hurt really bad. A few tears and deep breaths later we continued on our way. When we got down I got some medicine and bandages. All in all I'm all right. Some scrapes and lots of bruises. It was more scary than anything! The next day we made our way back to Texas. We had so much fun and the best part was that the weather was in the 70's in the day and in the 40's at night. It was beautiful!! Anyway, hope you enjoyed an actual update this time. I'm thinking about stopping my blog because i don't really have anything interesting to say anymore. We'll see what happens.

Woo-hoo: There is actually a tropical storm named Kristy in the pacific ocean! I've always wanted a storm with my name.

Boo: I feel like my life has no real meaning or purpose right now.

Kristy! Three things for you:
1. I'm so glad you didn't die falling off the mountain!
2. Don't stop blogging! Just start making up stuff if you don't think your life is interesting enough.
3. I believe that God has a purpose even for this season of your life where you feel like you're not doing anything of value. Let Him show you what He wants for you to do during this time!
You're awesome, girl!
