False Alarm

The doctor came in this morning and told us we can go home. Only to come back in a few minutes later and tell us never mind. Hayes is doing great, breathing room air on his own and hasn't been back on oxygen. The problem now is a blood culture they took back in Waco. They have been watching it everyday to see if it tests positive for bacteria. Of course, after he told us to go home, he got the call from Waco that today it says it is positive. This could mean he has a bacterial infection somewhere in his body. The doctor doesn't seem to think that is likely though since he has never run any fever and isn't showing any signs of it. He said what most likely happened is what they call a skin contamination, meaning that bacteria from one of the workers skin got in and infected the culture. He said normally if they are going to come back positive they will do so within 24 hours and Hayes' took 32 hours. So today they will do more blood work and take a urine sample to see if they can find any evidence of infection. Please pray for our little guy as they have to put a catheter in to take the urine. I know that is going to be awful. So once again, we just wait to make sure all of these tests come back negative and we should be able to go home tomorrow. Please continue to pray, and pray for everything to be negative. We are obviously sad because home was so close but we would rather stay here until they are absolutely positive that he is well. I'll update again if we get any news today.

Hey Kristy! We have been praying for you since Marci sent out an email. My daughter Katie Mae(Price is in her MDO class) requests to pray for "Baby Hayes" several times a day! Hope you all make it back home soon!
