Our Party of 5: The Pirates League

One of the most fun things Price did was the Pirate League at the Magic Kingdom. Hayes did it too but he found it a lot less enjoyable. The people who work there are amazing. They are all pirates and never break character. When you go in you get to pick which costume you want and which make up you want. Price had been saying all day that he didn't want his face painted but once we got there we convinced him that's how pirates look. We went a little more elaborate for his than Hayes' since we weren't sure how he would do. Our instincts were right so I'm glad we didn't pay for the whole get-up for Hayes. Price got to pick his pirate name by spinning a pirates wheel and using the month of his birthday. His pirate name was John Daggerskull. Hayes was Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Price sat there like such a big kid and let the lady ask him questions, put a tattoo on him and put lots of make up on him. Hayes was unsure about the whole thing. He got as far as the tattoo but wanted to go no further. I managed to hold him still while they put on his eyebrows and side burns but when they tried to put on his hat he lost it. It was a total meltdown with everyone staring. Fun times! We finally took him over to where Price was and he calmed down but still wouldn't wear the hat. When Price was finished we got to go into a secret room with some treasure and a sword where he took the pirate oath and they gave him a pirate medallion. He loved it all, it was just too cute. Hayes finally put his hat on in the middle of the day and the boys did a little street sword figiting in front of the castle. People kept stopping to watch. They left their costumes on for most of the day and of course the make up lasted until we tried and mostly succeeded in getting it off back at the hotel. Everywhere we went that day the Disney staff treated them like real pirates. The boys ate it up! Such a fun experience and I'm so glad we booked it!
